WWE Raw Star Thought His Age Would Stop Him Getting Signed

WWE Raw Star Thought His Age Would Stop Him Getting Signed WWE

The Dark Order’s Preston ’10’ Vance has revealed that Judgment Day’s Damian Priest did not believe he would get signed because he thought he would be too old.

Vance was speaking about his relatively short rise to the top having made his professional debut in 2015, and signing with AEW just five years later in 2020.

Pres10 noted that this is not the case for everyone in an interview with Busted Open Radio, noting that it took longer for some of his mentors.

Vance said:

“I think about it every day – 2015 is when I debuted, so that was seven years ago. Mark told me this, everyone in this generation lives on microwave time. They want it quick. For me, I feel like this has taken forever, to get where I’m at. Then I look at other guys like QT (Marshall). He trained me, he didn’t get signed anywhere for the first 13 years of his career.

“Same with Damian Priest, he trained me. I remember when I met him, he had already been wrestling for 12 years and he told me, ‘My goal is to get you signed and I have a piece of your career. I know I’m never going to be signed, I’m too old,’ and now he blew up. It’s crazy to look at stuff like that. I was very lucky to be on a little bit of a fast track.”

Damian Priest was 36 when he signed to WWE in 2018. Before this, he had spent some time at Ring of Honor where he performed under his real name, Luis Martinez and later, Punishment Martinez.

Priest is currently riding the wave of being a heel in the faction Judgment Day, alongside Finn Balor, Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio.

His most recent televised match was on the October 3 edition of Monday Night Raw where he and Balor defeated A.J. Styles and Rey Mysterio.

Damian Priest will be taking part in a trios match at WWE’s upcoming premium live event, Crown Jewel on November 5 where he, Balor and Mysterio will face The OC – A.J Styles, Luke Gallows and Carl Anderson.

Balor and Styles were both previously associated with the NJPW Bullet Club while Gallows and Anderson are also associated with the stable. Former Bullet Club Finn Balor has been attempting to lure Styles into joining Judgment Day on recent editions of Raw.

Styles has resisted so far, choosing instead to align himself with former OC partners, Gallows and Anderson following their unannounced return to WWE on the October 10 edition of Raw.
