The WWE creative team has seemingly undergone something of an overhaul in recent weeks, with Bruce Prichard rehired as Vince McMahon’s right hand man and Jeff Jarrett, Abyss, Sonjay Dutt, Shane Helms and Shawn Daivari brought in for various backstage roles.
There is now a new addition to the team, Dana Warrior, the wife of the late WWE Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior.
A report from Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet states that Dana has been brought in to offer “an additional female perspective”, which is something WWE has been sorely lacking, although Satin notes that the position “isn’t permanent yet”.
Intriguing hire
This is a very intriguing hire, with Dana becoming one of few woman to have worked on the WWE creative team in recent years.
On the flip side, Dana does not have any background of working in wrestling or television so it seems like a very unusual decision to give her the position based purely on experience alone.
Dana has been working with WWE in the five years since her late husband’s passing, serving as a brand ambassador for the promotion, doing charity work and appearing at the Hall Of Fame each year to present the Warrior Award to that year’s recipient.
Nevertheless, we hope that Dana’s influence will help WWE create storylines for its women’s roster that do not fall into the stereotypical tropes that WWE so often resorts to with its female talent.
