Daniel Bryan gave Paige advice prior to emotional retirement speech

To us fans, WrestleMania weekend is one of the most exciting times in our lives. However, for Paige this year, it was one of the most heartbreaking times of hers.

Not only did the inaugural NXT Women’s champion have to sit on the sidelines to watch the first ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, but she also had to come to terms with never being able to wrestle again.

During this week’s episode of Total Divas, Paige is given the go-ahead to make her retirement speech during the iconic Raw after WrestleMania, in front of the rowdy New Orleans crowd. But the Anti Diva was having trouble finding the right words so she sought the advice of a man who had been there and bounced back: Daniel Bryan.

Coming fresh off his return match after three years away from the ring, Bryan shared some wise words of wisdom to the 26-year-old:

“I really tried to focus not on poor me because I never wanted to be remembered as poor me. I’m very proud of my career and what I did.

People always focus on the negative, but if you flip it around and think of all the amazing people that you’ve met and the amazing opportunities that you’ve got to do.

Tomorrow will be hard but you got to think on the positive things.”

While she believes in miracles and still has hopes that one day she be able to wrestle again, her retirement was far from the last time we saw Paige in a WWE ring.

When Bryan officially returned to in-ring competition, Paige took up his previous role as Smackdown General Manager. She has slotted perfectly into the role, like it was built purposely for her.
