Daniel Bryan has revealed his favorite match of his WWE career, and why this contest stood out as a career highlight.
From the WrestleMania 30 three-way bout to the Survivor Series 2018 Brock Lesnar showdown, Bryan has been part of some amazing matches. The Leader of the Yes Movement has revealed that his WWE career highlight involved propelling somebody else into the spotlight.
Speaking with Robbie Fox on My Mom’s Basement, Bryan noted that his match with Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35 has a special place in his heart. Explaining why his WrestleMania 30 win was daunting, Bryan enjoyed giving Kingston his well-deserved WrestleMania moment.
Noting that not having to do media the next day was a big perk, Bryan appreciated his role in Kingston’s story.
Here is the full quote:
“My favorite match in my WWE career is my match with Kofi at WrestleMania 35. It’s so special and such a cool moment. One of the things that I love is it’s Kofi winning at the end. WrestleMania 30, my shoulder is horrible, I hurt my neck, I have this horrible pain down my arm and I have to get up and do media the next morning.
“Everyone comes up to you and are like ‘congratulations.’ There’s a lot of responsibility. When I wrestled Kofi, everyone goes to Kofi and says congratulations to him. I get to have my moment with him and be like ‘Hey man, thanks. That was awesome.’ Then, I get to hug my wife and daughter and go home the next day. Kofi is the one who has to do media and deal with people congratulating him.”
Kingston’s WWE Championship win was celebrated by many, including WWE, who recently named the moment to best WWE Title change of the last decade.
Bryan lost a high-stakes Universal Championship match on SmackDown. Because he was defeated by Roman Reigns, Bryan has been banished from SmackDown indefinitely.
It is unclear what the future holds for Bryan. The former WWE champion recently discussed feeling disconnected from wrestling and is debating hanging up his boots altogether.
