The latest on Daniel Garcia’s current contract status with AEW amid his upcoming expiration and reported interest from WWE.
Daniel Garcia has not been seen on AEW television since July, where he faced off against Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship on Dynamite, before he was viciously laid out and bloodied by MJF.
It has since been reported that the reason for MJF’s attack on Garcia was due to Garcia’s contract with the company being set to expire in October, being a way to write him off television in the chance he doesn’t re-sign.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), one top name in the company was of the belief that he was staying with the company, even speculating that he had re-signed, but that is not currently the case as of last week.
Garcia will see his contract expire in the Fall should he not re-sign, with there said to be interest from WWE, as well as obvious interest in retaining him in AEW.
Garcia had previously had a tryout with WWE prior to signing with AEW, even competing on a number of NXT and 205 Live shows as ‘Dante Rios’.
WWE even filed a trademark for that name, although it was abandoned thereafter.
