AEW star Daniel Garcia has stated that he was offended that he wasn’t contacted about a potential spot in this year’s Best of the Super Juniors line-up.
The round-robin tournament featured one AEW talent, Wheeler Yuta. The ROH Pure Champion finished joint-third place in the B block.
On Talk Is Jericho, Garcia shared his thoughts on not being invited by NJPW:
“Not gonna lie, I was kind of offended that (NJPW) didn’t hit me up for Best of the Super Juniors this year.
“I was offended. When (Wheeler) Yuta got announced and I was like, they didn’t hit up Daniel Garcia to do Best of the Super Juniors? But, I think they’re just saving me for the G1 to be honest. They’re probably saving me.
“I wanted — you could have at least reached out, you know? I felt a little bit slighted. But I’m also somebody where sometimes I feel like I need to carry a chip on my shoulder in order to be the best version of myself so I feel like that’s gonna be some good motivation for the next opponents.”
Garcia is currently aligned with the Jericho Appreciation Society in AEW, striving to become a great ‘sports entertainer’.
the PWG World Champion was not one of 28 names previously announced for this summer’s G1 Climax tournament. You can check out the full tournament line-up right here.
