Darby Allin On The Indies: ‘I Hate It When People Expect You To Kill Yourself’

Darby Allin was one of the most different performers on the indie scene prior to signing with AEW. He wrestled for promotions like EVOLVE and put his body through a lot.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Varsallone, Allin revealed his love-hate relationship with the indies and their fans. Here is the full quote, courtesy of Fightful:

“The Indies, it’s a love-hate relationship. I hate it when people expect you to kill yourself. Like, go out there, beat the hell out of your body and they didn’t want to pay you what you deserve for what you put your body through. They just want to use you as a crash test dummy to get views on their Twitter.

That drove me up the wall. I’d get to the building and promoters were like, ‘We’re gonna have you get thrown off this tonight.’ Why are you telling me this? You don’t dictate what I do. I had a lot of bad experiences with brutally horrible promoters. But there were promotions, like Ronin for example, that were good,”

Allin signed with All Elite Wrestling last year before making his debut in a draw with Cody at Fyter Fest.
