Darby Allin Qualifies For Owen Hart Foundation Tournament AEW

Tonight’s episode (April 29) of AEW Rampage saw old Pacific Northwest indie scene foes Darby Allin and Swerve Strickland square off in a major match.

While the match remained evenly paced throughout, it was a distraction outside the ring from Ricky Starks that ultimately seemed to give Allin the additional boost he needed to get the job done winning via pinfall to qualify to enter the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

In a backstage segment with Tony Schiavone, Allin let Strickland know he had nothing to do with Starks’ interference and Swerve was understanding going on to say he was rooting for Darby to take the whole tournament.

Darby Allin joins other male roster members already having qualified, Dax Harwood, Adam ColeSamoa Joe and Kyle O’Reilly.

This past Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite saw Tony Schiavone interview several women’s roster members who qualified for entry to the tournament, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.,Jamie Hayter and Ruby Soho & Toni Storm who along with Red Velvet, and Hikaru Shida make up the women’s bracket thus far.

The Owen Hart Memorial Cup Tournament is currently announced to begin next month and will feature both a men’s and a women’s tournament to crown the inaugural winners at AEW’s Double or Nothing on May 29, 2022 with plans for Dr. Martha Hart, Owen’s widow, to be in attendance at the event.
