Darby Allin Reveals When He Found Out He Was Winning TNT Title

Former TNT Champion Darby Allin has revealed when he found out he was beating Cody Rhodes for the AEW gold.

At Full Gear 2020, Allin rolled up Cody Rhodes to win the TNT title. The underdog defended the championship frequently before dropping the gold to Miro last week.

According to Allin, he had no idea that he was winning the championship until the day of the match. On the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Allin noted that he’s not one to ask questions about angles.

Stating that he got hyped when he found out he was going to have his arm raised, Allin explained that he was ready to run with whatever AEW gave him.

Here is the full quote:

“See I don’t really ask questions. I didn’t even know leading into it if I was going to win. Then someone was like, ‘Dude, you’re winning’ I was like, ‘Okay, cool.’ I don’t know if it’s just the combination of just hearing people lie so much in life that you don’t want to hear it until it’s there, but I found out that day and I was hyped about it. I just wanted to make the most of that whole opportunity. Like I said, I don’t really ask that many questions, I just run with whatever they give me.”

Allin became a mainstay of AEW Dynamite with his TNT Championship. During his time as champion, Allin defended the gold against the likes of Jungle Boy, Matt Hardy and Bryan Cage.

The current TNT titleholder, Miro, will face Lance Archer at Double or Nothing next week. Allin will team with Sting to battle Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page. You can view the finalised Double or Nothing card here.

In other AEW news, the promotion could be about to introduce another new championship after the announcement of Dynamite moving to TBS.
