Vice’s Dark Side of the Ring has been one of the better looks behind the curtain of wrestling in recent years. Their show looks at some of the darker events in wrestling and they are currently through two seasons. Now, we know one topic they won’t be covering anytime soon, Chyna.
Wrestling Inc. is currently reporting that an idea for an episode regarding the former WWE Women’s Champion was nixed. The show is currently in pre-production for their third season. Their report states that a friend of Chyna’s, Anthony Anzaldo, was in a dispute with Vice over the rights to footage involving him. However, Dark Side of the Ring producer Evan Husney released this statement regarding the potential episode:
“There are no plans for an episode about Chyna for the upcoming season of Dark Side of the Ring. At the start of pre production earlier this year, we became aware of multiple projects that were currently in production about Chyna, and thus, we ultimately decided against pursuing this as a future subject.”
Chyna, of course, became known for her role in WWE during the Attitude Era. Her large stature saw her compete against men and saw her capture the Intercontinental Championship. She is still the only woman to hold the title.
Her life would be very complicated afterward and she would eventually die of a drug overdose in 2016.
