This week WWE confirmed that Dio Maddin has been permanently removed from his position as Raw commentator. A report has since emerged suggesting that Vince McMahon was not a fan of Maddin’s commentary style.
It was also revealed on WWE Backstage that former United States Champion Samoa Joe will be stepping in to replace Maddin while he recovers from a broken wrist.
However, it seems like Joe might not be in his Raw commentary position for too long as he is weeks away from an evaluation for his injury ahead of a potential return.
Loose Lips Backstage has been on the money with several backstage scoops as of late, including a spoiler on the Bobby Lashley and Lana arrest angle that took place during show. The source notes that Joe will be evaluated on December 30:
“Yes, they evaluate with trainers and medical staff when talent are in town already for show. DOES NOT mean they will return to in-ring action that date; it’s only to be evaluated.”
Joe will most certainly not be ready to return on December 30, so expect possibly a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble in January 2020 if he is ready by then.
