Dave Meltzer Addresses ‘Tribal Weirdos’ Ahead Of NXT & AEW Dynamite Head-To-Head WWE/AEW

Dave Meltzer has commented on “tribal weirdos” ahead of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT going up against each other on October 10, 2023.

Next Tuesday, AEW Dynamite has a Title Tuesday special, with a number of high profile matches having been announced, including the in-ring debut of Adam Copeland as he takes on Luchasaurus.

Meanwhile, WWE NXT will have appearances from Cody Rhodes, Paul Heyman and John Cena.

Asuka will also be making her return to the brand, facing Roxanne Perez, and has reacted to the reveal on social media.

Dave Meltzer addressed the “tribal weirdos” who have reacted to the head-to-head on Wrestling Observer Radio, saying:

“There’s been a lot of weirdness, I’ll just say. It is a lot. Boy, was today a weird day. Just the fact that (the) Tuesday thing’s coming up has got some people really weirded out.

“Oh man, people are just really weird about this Tuesday thing. Because they’re going head-to-head and people are… it’s the tribal weirdos.

“(People are saying) ‘WWE’s not trying to compete with them at all, they’re just trying to get a television rights deal’, and just all kinds of weirdness.

“And (people are saying) ‘AEW started it, they’re moving onto NXT’s night’, and it’s like – there’s a frickin’ baseball playoff game. AEW didn’t want to move there.

“But whatever, it’s head-to-head, it’s good for viewers. Both companies are sending out big, big shows, so the viewers win. And there’s nothing wrong with the competition.

“The competition is fine. It’s not like anyone’s cheating. They’re trying to win a night, and that’s fine. And both (trying) very, very hard, they’re loading up the shows, so that’s a good thing.”
