The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view might have featured some questionable decisions, with WWE stars even reportedly confused by the decision to have Randy Orton beat Drew McIntyre, but it undeniably featured some fantastic in-ring action.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has given his star ratings for the matches on the show, including the Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso clash which some have said online deserves the full five-star rating.
While fans might have thought it was one of the best matches of the year, Meltzer clearly didn’t agree, awarding the match just over three stars. Here’s his ratings for each of the matches on last weekend’s pay-per-view event.
- R-Truth def. Drew Gulak (*3/4)
- Roman Reigns def. Jey Uso (***1/2)
- Elias def. Jeff Hardy (*)
- The Miz def. Otis (**)
- Sasha Banks def. Bayley (****1/4)
- Bobby Lashley def. SLAPJACK (1/2*)
- Randy Orton def. Drew McIntyre (****1/4)
It is certainly interesting to see that Dave Meltzer gave the same rating to the Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton match that he did to the Sasha Banks and Bayley clash.
Nothing against Orton or McIntyre, but many feel that Bayley and Banks put on one of the best women’s matches in WWE history over the weekend.
