It has been 20 years since David Arquette won the WCW Championship on Nitro. It has become an infamous event in wrestling history as a celebrity should not be winning a promotion’s world championship.
However, Arquette has started working independent wrestling shows in recent years. He even appeared on an episode of Being The Elite prior to Double or Nothing 2019 with Arquette trying to get a spot in the Casino Battle Royale. Now, Arquette has revealed that he wants a shot at the TNT Championship against Cody.

Arquette responded to a tweet saying he should come to AEW. He also alluded to his WCW Championship win by saying that he and Cody’s father Dusty Rhodes both held the same belt.
Whether this will happen or not remains to be seen. Cody has taken on a wide range of challengers, from AEW talent to free agents. The likes of Ricky Starks and Eddie Kingston have both earned themselves contracts as a result of their matches with Cody.
An appearance from Arquette would bring headlines to the company but as WCW learned that is not the goal when it is at the detriment of the product.
