Dean Ambrose Update: Hands In Notice, Leaving WWE After WrestleMania

Former WWE Champion Dean Ambrose has handed in his notice with WWE having rejected a new contract offer that included a considerable raise.

Ambrose directly informed Vince McMahon and WWE management of his decision over Royal Rumble weekend, which no doubt played a part in his unceremonious Rumble elimination at the hands of Aleister Black, his clean defeat to Seth Rollins on Raw and his post-match angle with Nia Jax.

Ambrose is said to have been unhappy with his WWE position for some time and has refused to enter further negotiations with the promotion regarding a new contract. Sources close to Ambrose say this is not a negotiation tactic designed to get more money out of WWE, he simply wants to leave the promotion due to years of frustration.

The former Shield man is free to leave WWE when he contract expires at the end of April, which means he is available for Elimination Chamber, Fastlane and WrestleMania. However, whether he is likely to be used on any of those remains to be seen. WWE will no doubt expect Ambrose to turn up in AEW so will perhaps be unwilling to feature him in any role of significance. More likely he will be used to put over several babyfaces on the roster or written off television entirely.

Although unable to negotiate with the promotion until he is free from his contract, it seems highly likely that Ambrose will be one of the first big names to make the jump from WWE to AEW. Given his status in the industry and the fact he has been a main event level performer for six years in WWE, he would be a very smart hire for the new group.

Nobody from AEW has commented on the situation yet, nor are they likely to until they are legally able to do so, but Joey Ryan has publicly commented:
