A departing WWE star has opened up on scrapped plans for their main roster return earlier this year prior to their departure.
On Friday, the latest round of WWE talent releases took place, with 17 names across both WWE’s main roster and NXT being let go from the company.
One name that is set to depart the company is Shotzi, who was notified that her contract would not be being renewed on Friday.
Shotzi returned from injury after almost a year away back in December, when she returned to NXT to form an alliance with Tatum Paxley and Gigi Dolin on the show.
Shotzi’s return to NXT was done to prepare her for a return to the WWE main roster, which ultimately never ended up materialising, but there were plans put in place for her return.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Shotzi revealed there were plans for her to feud with Chelsea Green upon her return to SmackDown, but it was ultimately cut.
She said:
“I was told ‘you’re going to start a storyline with Chelsea (Green)’. Which I was all for, Chelsea is super great.
“They bring me into SmackDown, they’re like, rehearsing my entrance on the tron, and then they cut it. And then it was like week after week, nothing and nothing.
“Then I started to wonder like ‘my contract’s up in a few months, what is going on?’ and nobody had answers for me. That’s finally when I was like ‘I’m gonna cut this promo, and I’m gonna get some answers by cutting this promo.”
