Backstage Details On Future WWE & TNA Crossover Following Jordynne Grace Surprise NXT Appearance WWE

The backstage details on Jordynne Grace’s surprise NXT appearance and future crossover between WWE and TNA has been revealed.

The wrestling world was in shock last night when current TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace was revealed as the surprise challenger for NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at NXT Battleground in Vegas.

This comes just four months after Grace entered the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match as a surprise entrant earlier this year, and we now have more information on how Grace’s latest appearance came to be.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), both Grace and Ethan Page were hidden away prior to the show, with the tapings being kept a lot more secretive than usual.

Lita and Alexa Bliss were both used as placeholders for Grace’s appearance, with Lita’s theme also being used during rehearsals for the segment.

NXT talent that spoke to Fightful were pleasantly surprised about the announcement that Grace would be competing on next week’s NXT show against Stevie Turner.

Roxanne Perez was said to have been legitimately surprised, per her own request, with Fightful noting that they were told Perez was adamant that she wanted to be surprised by who the opponent would be, so her reaction to Grace’s appearance was genuine.

The match at Battleground is a part of an agreement that will see Grace make at least three appearances for NXT, including her appearance on last night’s show and her two advertised matches, with NXT sources claiming that Grace is making at least six figures for the appearances.

While the NXT talent didn’t know about Grace’s appearance, Ethan Page did know about it ahead of time, as he and Grace stayed at Cezar Bononi’s house before their reveals, and had actually run into each other prior to that, and were aware of the spots on the show.

As far as any more crossover between NXT and TNA, the door is said to be very open for more.

Some had wondered if Scott D’Amore’s departure from TNA would close the door on any crossover, as he was the one who helped facilitate the Royal Rumble appearance on his way out of the company, but those within TNA that spoke to Fightful said that the lines of communication have remained open.

Grace is still under contract to TNA for the next year-plus.
