Find out details about a mandatory AEW backstage meeting for all talent where the topic of talking to ‘dirt sheets’ was discussed.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, there was an all hands meeting for AEW staff and talent held yesterday (May 27) which featured AEW’s new public relations hire, Adam Hopkins.
Hopkins may be a familiar name after his over 25 years of experience in WWE where he had worked in a variety of roles including Director Of Communications, Senior Director, and Public Relations/Corporate Communications.
While the meeting may sound rather ominous, it was reportedly well received by talent in attendance and sounded to cover many general media literacy topics in general.
Amongst the talking points, for talent to be wary of talking to ‘dirt sheets’ or others without clarifying whether or not comments are ‘off the record’ including ensuring that the person they’re speaking to knows the difference.
Sounds highly reasonable to encourage everyone in life to use discretion and strategy when speaking about their employer or fellow employees in a public way… so let that be a lesson to us all!
Also reportedly both Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli spoke, while Danielson noted that he perhaps was not the authority on the matter since he has notably made headlines for interesting quotes relating to his vegan diet.
However Castagnoli weighed in, offering his take that media appearances/interviews can be a positive conduit to promoting the talent themselves, their story and their on-screen program.
The meeting was reportedly well received by those in attendance and with several noting belief that the addition of Hopkins was ‘game changing’ for AEW in that department.
Speaking of exceptional media training on display from AEW stars, the upcoming AEW pay-per-view Double or Nothing has seen some delightful interviews from AEW’s top stars.
