So it turns out Edge has been a cheeky rapscallion and was going telling a fib about not being cleared to return to WWE. The Rated R Superstar made his long awaited return to the ring in the Royal Rumble match, entering at number 21. He lasted until the final three, being eliminated by Roman Reigns. He had a significant interaction with AJ Styles during the match, eliminating him after delivering a vicious Spear.
Now, details have emerged about his return to the company. WrestleVotes is reporting that he has signed a three year contract to return to WWE, making this much more than a one-off appearance. The deal is reportedly for “significant money”.

As reported by Wrestle Zone, All Elite Wrestling also took a swing at signing Edge. He had passed independent tests from doctors who cleared him to wrestle prior to being cleared by WWE’s doctors. It is not clear how serious the talks with AEW were but he ultimately negotiated with WWE and signed a new deal.
Once he was cleared by a WWE doctor, WWE sent him to North Carolina to train for his return. Rumours of his return circulated since his appearance at SummerSlam 2019. At SummerSlam he delivered a Spear to Elias in front of his hometown crowd in Toronto. It was the first time he had done anything physical since his retirement in 2011. Now we know that those rumours and reports were accurate.
It is a very welcome surprise to see Edge return to the ring. From everyone here at WrestleTalk we wish him luck in his second run.
