There have been reports about problems at the latest SmackDown TV tapings and now we have some more details on what those problems were.
The Raw tapings the day before went later than planned, past midnight in fact. WWE then decided to only tape one episode of SmackDown, instead of two, which led to rewrites.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said:
“Things happened, I don’t know if it was test-related or what. There were key people on SmackDown that were scripted into the show and the show ended up having the script torn apart and redone anyways as Raw was. On late Monday night, they made the call to only tape one SmackDown show instead of two on Tuesday. It was a complete mess on Tuesday and so that show is on Friday. Now they have to come back on the 13th.”
It was previously reported that two NXT stars, Danny Burch and Killian Dain, were set for the tapings as part of a storyline with King Corbin, but that might not be happening now due to the aforementioned issues.
