Details On Special Match Planned For AEW

AEW

Details have emerged on a special match AEW currently has planned, which is set to be an ‘authentic Arena Mexico match.’

Following several reports, Tony Khan has confirmed that he has recently been in talks with Mexican promotion CMLL, who will have a presence at Wednesday’s (October 18) Dynamite/Rampage taping.

One match set for the Rampage taping will see Mistico (fka the original Sin Cara in WWE) take on Rocky Romero.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this match will be presented as an authentic Arena Mexico bout.

Meltzer said:

“The idea, from what I understand, is to make this an authentic Arena Mexico match with the Arena Mexico video footage, with the Arena Mexico music.”

The Mistico vs Rocky Romero match will air on the October 20 edition of Rampage.

Interestingly, the rocky relationship between CMLL and Lucha Libre AAA has affected AEW booking plans in the past, with talent considered AAA names unable to appear at previous Forbidden Door events due to NJPW’s working relationship with CMLL.

I hope that next week's match is just the beginning!
