For those of you who watch WWE shows with commentary, you will have noticed that last night there was a lot of talk from Michael Cole and the rest about Dean Ambrose “quitting” WWE.
It was first reported earlier this year that Dean would not be re-signing with WWE when his contract expires in April, largely due to being unhappy in his role in the company.
However, the blatant overuse of “Dean is quitting”, “Dean isn’t re-signing” and “the last Shield re-union ever” has made a lot of people think the exact opposite.
Why would WWE, a company famous for not wanting people to leave, be announcing that one of their top stars is so keen to leave? Not only is it completely out of character, but it’s bizarre.
While Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio is still reporting that Dean is leaving as of today, you can’t help but wonder what WWE is trying to achieve here, and whether some kind of secret deal has been made betwen Vince and Dean Ambrose.
Dean featured in last night’s Shield re-union with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in a victorious effort over Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre, and the idea of the “last ever Shield re-union” was pumped out every other second.
So, is this WWE’s weird way of telling us that he’s not going anywhere? What do you think?
