‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio Is Glad To Have Skipped Debuting On NXT WWE

“Dirty Dom” Dominik Mysterio may be the current NXT North American Champion but according to him, he’s glad he skipped NXT!

In an interview with Metro, Dominik Mysterio noted that he was actually completely fine with skipping NXT ahead of his main roster debut since it didn’t really make sense for him to start out there.

Rather than starting in NXT, Dominik’s first WWE match came at SummerSlam 2020, and he remained on the main roster until Judgment Day’s recent foray into NXT while also still showing up on Raw and SmackDown.

Dirty Dom said:

‘I think just the way that I came about it, and the people that I was surrounded with, I just don’t think it made sense [to go to NXT], especially with who I was gonna learn from.’

“Coming in with my first match against Seth, and then carrying on to work with Baron Corbin and Sami Zayn during the pandemic, to where once the pandemic was over I started working with John Cena, Roman Reigns, The Usos and Edge!

“You can’t get any better than that. as far as guys that I could be next to. I’m literally next to some of the best – if not the best, the current best.

“I had a chance to be in there with them, not once or twice but multiple times, working all the house shows with them, opening up SmackDown with them. My experience was a little different, being able to learn from those top, top guys.”

Notably, Dominik has had some incredible in-ring opportunities both before and after joining the Judgment, including becoming WWE’s first father/son tag team champions with his father Rey Mysterio, and then having a singles match against Rey himself at WrestleMania.

Dirty Dom was able to successfully retain the NXT North American Championship at last night’s NXT Great American Bash event with a little help from his Mami.
