Following the confirmation that Leva Bates’ AEW Contract had expired on May 1, there has now been a further update on the circumstances surrounding her exit from the company, with fans describing the situation as ‘distressing’.
A new report released by Fightful Select (subscription required) has revealed that Bates herself was not directly informed of her deal expiring or of any intention to renew her prior contract prior to her departure.
According to the report, Bates only found out the news due to an internal AEW email stating that the company was not renewing Bates’ deal, something that subsequently caused many current employees to reach out to check on her, which is when she eventually learned the news.
Given Bates was employed by AEW in April 2019 and her reported popularity with talent and staff as well as her notable work for the AEW Heels group, the reaction to the news has been very negative thus far.
One fan commenting on the post on Fightful Select would call the news “distressing to read” with another calling the lack of communication from AEW “very disappointing”, and the rest of the comments agreed with those sentiments.
Bates’ announcement of her AEW departure on May 1 via Twitter was also reportedly “applauded” by some backstage due to the unfavourable circumstances of her departure.
Since her departure, Bates has kept busy via Twitch where she most recently streamed Diablo IV, you can support and follow her channel at this link here.
