Divisional Breakdown: SmackDown Live, May 8, 2018

Well, SmackDown Live did it again! Coming off of Backlash, and using only a portion of their roster, the blue brand put on an enjoyable show. Which divisions saw their talent used the least, and which ones soaked up the spotlight?

Mid-card

This is difficult to judge because there wasn’t a true mid-card match on this show: in fact, the match involving “mid-card” talent was reserved for the Money in the Bank qualifying match, which is in theory, a main-event spot.

Therefore, The Miz vs. U.S. Champion Jeff Hardy is counting towards the mid-card and what a great match we witnessed. Miz beat ‘Brother Nero’ with a shock roll-up after going about 15-20 minutes to kick off the broadcast. Hardy lost absolutely nothing in the way of credibility by taking the pin, as he was about to beat Miz before he was rolled up. With the win, the eight-time Intercontinental Champion now sets his sights on winning his second Money in the Bank ladder match.

I’m also tossing the Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas announcement in the mid-card as well, as we have no proof that he’s going to be placed higher on the pecking order.
