There was a big title change in the main event of tonight’s WWE & AAA Worlds Collide event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With no title changes at the show to that point, the main event saw El Hijo Del Vikingo put his AAA Mega Championship on the line against WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio.
The match had outside interference at numerous points, firstly from Mysterio’s Judgment Day teammates Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.
However, coming out to even the odds and help Vikingo were Dragon Lee and Dominik’s own father, Rey Mysterio.
Dominik had one more trick up his sleeve though in the form of El Grande Americano.
Americano first popped up when he pulled the referee out of the ring on a two-count as Vikingo was pinning Dominik, saving the match.
Americano’s interference is then what ultimately paved the way for Dominik to hit a frog splash and score the victory, becoming the new AAA Mega Champion.
Vikingo had held the title for just over 100 days, having won it from Alberto El Patron in May.
After the match, Rey Mysterio stayed true to his word that he’d given in an interview earlier and personally put the AAA Mega Title belt around Dominik’s waist.
Judgment Day then came out to celebrate with Dom, although they were somewhat upstaged by El Grande Americano, who raised Dominik’s hand in victory as they watched on.
Mysterio is now a double champion – as mentioned, he’s also the WWE Intercontinental Champion, a title he’s held since WrestleMania 41 in April.
