Dominik Mysterio Recalls Rey Mysterio’s ‘Old School’ Measures To Maintain Eddie Guerrero WWE Custody Battle Off Camera WWE

Dominik Mysterio has recalled his father Rey Mysterio’s “old school” measures to maintain kayfabe during he and Eddie Guerrero’s custody battle storyline in 2005.

Long before Dominik Mysterio became “Dirty Dom”, the former Intercontinental Champion was involved in an infamous 2005 WWE storyline that saw him the subject of a custody battle between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, with the latter claiming to be Dom’s real father.

During the storyline Dominik was at one point said to have been taken away by a social worker, and as revealed by Dom himself during an interview with the Towers of Power Pro Wrestling Podcast, Rey Mysterio had an old school mentality when it came to maintaining the angle off screen.

Dominik recalled:

“During the custody battle, when I was supposedly getting taken by the social worker and I’d go back home with my parents, they’d put me in the back seat in crevices and cover me with clothes and bags so people couldn’t see me because there’s fans outside the arena.

“So that’s how I grew up, like old school. They wanted people to believe that I was being taken by a social worker.”
