With their father-son relationship in tatters on WWE television, Dominik Mysterio doesn’t think a reunion with Rey Mysterio is likely.
Despite a close relationship on screen with his father, Dominik Mysterio would turn his back on Rey Mysterio at WWE Clash at the Castle back in September 2022.
Since then, the younger Mysterio has found a new family in the form of Judgment Day, although that faction has seen a number of changes since he first joined.
When it comes to his own father, however, Dominik Mysterio believes that change has to come from the WWE Hall of Famer’s side of things, and he can’t see that happening, according to comments he recently made on Burn Factory, saying:
“I think it’s time, like, step away a little bit. There needs to be a lot of things to happen on his end for that to happen, which I don’t think will happen.”

Another relationship that Mysterio won’t be seeing repaired is that with his former Judgment Day teammate Finn Balor, with the pair set to face each other at WrestleMania 42 on April 19.
The Mysterio Family Feud
Making his in-ring debut at SummerSlam in August 2020, Dominik Mysterio would go on to team with his father, even becoming WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania Backlash the following year.
After the betrayal at the aforementioned Clash at the Castle, the pair would feud leading to a singles match at WrestleMania 39, with Rey being victorious, and a further win at the following year’s event, with the WWE Hall of Famer teaming with Andrade to put away his son and Santos Escobar.
Arguably, splitting Dominik from Rey has put the young star in a much better position than he would’ve been in if he continued to team with his legendary father. In Judgment Day, Dominik has been able to carve out the start of a legacy of his own, being recognized as the star he is, as opposed to the son who lives in his father’s shadow.
There can be little doubt that the Dominik Mysterio that fans see today is leagues ahead of the man who stepped into the ring back in August 2020, but he’s very much aware of the legacy that his last name places upon him.
There’s certainly something of the Eddie Guerrero in what he’s doing in WWE, whether it be the dastardly and conniving tactics or the humor he brings to his character, and that is no bad thing.
One day, Dominik Mysterio will likely outgrow Judgment Day and will chart a new path of his own in WWE. Perhaps, at that point, we could see the seeds of reconciliation with his father who will, no doubt, one day be calling time on his own in-ring career.
