Dominik Mysterio Reveals Rey Mysterio WWE Advice That ‘Clicked’ WWE

Dominik Mysterio has broken character to share the advice he has received from his WWE Hall of Famer “Deadbeat Dad” Rey Mysterio.

Although their onscreen relationship in WWE remains fraught, with Rey Mysterio having recently returned to exchange words with his son, the current AAA Mega Champion has shared an insight into how his father has helped his career.

Speaking to SportsBoom, Dominik Mysterio revealed the ‘cheat sheet’ advice he got from his father, saying:

“I’ve gotten so much advice from him throughout the years.

“But I remember one time being in a match, and because during those early years where I was tagging with him, he would be ringside for all of my matches.

“It was like a cheat sheet, having a cheat code, because I would just look at him and go, ‘What’s next? What do I do?’ He would just tell me exactly what I needed to do. It’s like a cheat sheet.

“But I think the best advice, I remember one time I was in there, and I got super frustrated. He just told me not to panic. He said, ‘Don’t panic. Just react.'”

That advice was seemingly pivotal to the star now known as ‘Dirty’ Dom, who went on to explain:

“Something clicked in that moment where I stopped panicking, and I was just able to listen and react to the crowd and what was going on in that moment.

“That’s when I was like, ‘Oh s**t, maybe don’t do what I’ve been doing to make me panic and kind of freak out a little bit. I would say he definitely helped me with that.”

Dominik Mysterio had his first match at SummerSlam in 2020, losing to Seth Rollins in a Street Fight.

He would go on to team with his father, holding the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, before becoming a two-time NXT North American Champion and former WWE Intercontinental Champion.

The AAA Mega Champion, Mysterio has recently revealed the reaction his now-wife had when he told her he was going to start training to become a wrestler.
