Yesterday was supposed to be a day of celebration in Toronto as the city gathered to rejoice in the success the Raptors, who won the NBA championship last week.
However, a number of incidents marred the victory parade, with reports of several injuries as a result of stabbings and shootings near the city’s Eaton Centre shopping mall.
The shootings, which occurred around 3:30pm caused several members of the public to run for their lives, leading to a stampede in the area.
Impact chief, NJPW commentator and friend of WrestleTalk Don Callis was in the Eaton Centre when the shots were fired and found himself trapped inside the building’s basement.
Amidst the chaos, Callis tweeted:
Shots fired in Eaton Centre and I am trapped with terrified people in the basement

It was another three hours before Callis tweeted again, which of course led to concern amongst friends and fans about his safety.
Thankfully, Callis tweeted again three hours later, simply stating that he had “survived” the ordeal.
Three people responsible for the shootings have been arrested and held in custody, with the weapons seized. Four people were injured in the shootings and several in the stampede but none of the injuries are said to be life-threatening.
