In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE has dropped some hints that Drew McIntyre will be dropping the WWE Championship to Randy Orton at Clash of Champions.
Meltzer noted that because Randy Orton lost to Drew McIntyre last month at SummerSlam and was defeated by Keith Lee at Payback the following week, he may be picking up the WWE title rather soon:
A few signs have been in place, such as him losing the first match clean in the middle to build a rematch, and his loss to Lee on the last PPV show. In addition, there was at least talk that the planned Orton vs. Edge match at WrestleMania this coming year would be for the title.
It has been rumoured for several months now that Drew McIntyre will be dropping the WWE Championship to Randy Orton over the summer. However, McIntyre is currently one for one in their series.
It’s important to note that this is not a concrete report from Dave Meltzer at this time, and he is not saying that Randy Orton will be defeating Drew McIntyre at the upcoming pay-per-view, just noting that hints have been dropped.
What do you think about the idea of Randy Orton beating Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship next weekend at Clash of Champions? Let us know in the comments.
