When Gunther (the former WALTER) made his way over to the United States, many fans were excited about potential match ups he could have with some of WWE’s top main roster stars.
One of the names that came up most often as a dream opponent for Gunther was Drew McIntyre, and with the two now on the same brand, an eventual collision between the two seems inevitable.
Fans at last night’s WWE live event in Bridgeport, Connecticut were treated to an exciting teaser of a potential match between the two men, when McIntyre came face to face with the Intercontinental Champion following his victory over Ricochet.
McIntyre is set to face off against Sheamus on the July 29 episode of SmackDown, seemingly confirming that neither man will be on the SummerSlam show the following day.
Gunther and McIntyre faced off briefly in the 2019 Survivor Series match, when McIntyre pinned the then-NXT United Kingdom Champion, making him one of only three men to pin Gunther/WALTER in WWE, the others being Ilja Dragunov and Bron Breakker.
