An update on Drew McIntyre and LA Knight’s legitimate backstage heat following their match on this week’s SmackDown.
Drew McIntyre was reportedly legitimately frustrated coming out of last weekend’s Royal Rumble match due to a mistimed elimination in the match involving LA Knight.
Drew was originally slated to be eliminated by Damian Priest before Logan Paul’s entrance, but McIntyre ended up being eliminated after the fact.
Drew expressed frustration about LA Knight having to ‘get his stuff in’ as the reason backstage, which was referenced on this week’s SmackDown show.
During his pre-match promo, Knight made reference to those reports, where he joked about having to ‘get his stuff in’ before his catchphrases at the end.
In an update from Fightful Select (Subscription required), the two men were said to be fine working together on the February 7 episode of SmackDown, with it being noted that things got a little rough in the ring, but both men came out okay, and there were no issues following the match.
There was also no concern that the two would work together well, and most saw it as an opportunity to play off the legitimate frustrations that happened behind the scenes.
McIntyre was also said to have no issues with Knight’s promo on the show, as likely came across on television.
One source noted that the frustrations leaking ‘wasn’t ideal’, but felt both men played off it perfectly.
"Oh wait, I forgot to get my stuff in…"
