The actual WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has reacted to AEW titleholder Kenny Omega being called the WWE Champion by Jim Ross.
On last night’s AEW Dynamite, Jim Ross got his paths crossed. Momentarily forgetting Kenny Omega’s title, JR referred to Omega as the WWE Champion.
The genuine titleholder, Drew McIntyre caught wind of the situation quickly. McIntyre reacted to JR’s mistake with a picture of himself, with the caption noting that the WWE World Champion isn’t “impressed or amused”.
McIntyre posted his tongue in cheek response to Twitter:

Ross shot down any speculation of a WWE-AEW forbidden portal opening up, tweeting that this mistake came in the “heat of battle”:
“Yep. Heat of battle. Live TV. My bad…,.”
With the recent appearances of NJPW and IMPACT talent on AEW Dynamite, it can be confusing to keep track of who belongs to which company to be honest.
Drew McIntyre might not be the WWE World Champion after this Sunday, when he defends his title inside the Elimination Chamber.
