It was announced yesterday that the opening match of WrestleMania 37 Night One will be the WWE Championship match between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre. The show will be main-evented by Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair.
It’s been theorised for some time that WWE is keen to make the first entrance at ‘Mania to be as big as possible, given that fans are finally going to be in attendance after over a year of empty arena or Thunderdome shows.
Drew McIntyre has now released a statement on his Twitter following the news that he’ll be opening the show.
“I’ve said for the last year I want to be the first person out when crowds return. I can’t wait for that noise to hit. I just feel bad for everyone having to follow me and Bobby, we’ll set the standard, you all try and keep up #WrestleMania,”
His opponent, Bobby Lashley, is yet to comment on the news, but we’re sure he’s excited too.
