Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre have had a major singles match once before. It was at WrestleMania 35 in Reigns’ first pay per view singles match post leukemia. On that night, Reigns was superior but now, McIntyre is ready to prove otherwise.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, McIntyre said that WrestleMania was Reigns’ moment and Survivor Series will be his. Here is the full quote:
“That was Roman’s moment, returning from illness and showing the world he was back. I was thankful for that opportunity, but it needed to be all about Roman. This is way different than 35. He’s done a lot since then, but I have risen up the card, too. I have a lot to prove to him this Sunday. All eyes are always on Roman. This is my opportunity to prove I’m better.
Roman has been the man for so many years in WWE. There is something so special about his presence. He’s phenomenal in the ring, he’s a leader in the ring, and he’s reached this level for a reason.
I’m putting in the work, and I’m going to keep doing that. When you think WWE, you think Roman Reigns. I want people to think of Drew McIntyre, and they’re going to after Survivor Series.”
McIntyre regained his WWE Championship last week on Raw. This changed the match for Survivor Series from Reigns facing Randy Orton to Reigns now facing Drew.
