It was announced earlier today that WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has tested positive for COVID-19. While obviously, he will not be able to compete tonight against Randy Orton, McIntyre will appear on video to comment on his diagnosis.
WWE made the announcement earlier today on their website. They gave no further details other than that McIntyre will be making an address. Here is their official statement:
“With the announcement of the WWE champion testing positive for COVID-19, we can confirm Drew McIntyre will make his first comments tonight on Raw.”
Last week McIntyre and Goldberg set up their match at the Royal Rumble. As WWE has said, McIntyre has been placed in quarantine and therefore should be able to have his match with Goldberg as planned. However, COVID-19 can be unpredictable so we will be sure to keep you updated.
It has also been reported that COVID-19 outbreaks are currently affecting WWE, All Elite Wrestling and Impact as cases continue to surge from the holiday season.
