Drew McIntyre Shares Honest Thoughts On Damian Priest WWE Feud WWE

Drew McIntyre has shared his honest thoughts on his WWE feud with Damian Priest, addressing unhappiness rumors.

With McIntyre reigniting his rivalry with Priest ahead of WrestleMania 41, some fans criticized this match-up at the time, believing McIntyre should’ve had a spot higher up the card on April 19/20.

With Priest appearing to pick up the definitive victory in their steel cage match at the May 24 Saturday Night’s Main Event special, McIntyre has now commented on reactions to this rivalry.

During an interview with Gorilla Position, McIntyre was asked if he wasn’t happy with the Priest feud.

McIntyre responded:

“I mean, this is WWE, if you know anything about watching the show, you know things are not always as they seem. If you know anything about being backstage, things change every freaking second.

McIntyre went on to discuss reactions to their rivalry. Noting that he’s more concerned about whether or not he’s telling a good story he said:

“I appreciate the response, I know people have been like, Drew should have this or should have that. These days my mindset is what’s the best story, as opposed to… Yeah I’d love to fight for the title every single year, but aside from a couple of guys, that generally doesn’t happen.

“For myself I’m like ‘alright, I showed what I could do.’ I’d like to think I’ll get rewarded for that but I don’t assume anything, I’m just going to give it my all in every situation as long as I’ve got a story to be telling, a story I can invest in personally and make real to me.

“That’s what matters to me because I know if I can make it real to me, it’ll be real to the fans. I don’t care who’s in front of me, it could be you and I, and I would make it count.”

Believing his feud with Priest was the most logical story WWE could tell with him, he explained:

“To me, this is the most logical story, and Priest is, you know, very good. He’s had his opportunity, at my expense of course, but what I saw, he’s knocked it out of the park.

“He has worked hard, he’s paid his dues, he deserves an opportunity at the top.”

Neither McIntyre or Priest have wrestled since their May 24 steel cage match. Both Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest were said to be banged up heading into this match.
