Drew McIntyre has addressed reports about backstage frustration at WWE Royal Rumble 2025, setting the record straight.
McIntyre made headlines after the Rumble for reportedly voicing his frustration backstage after there were some issues with his elimination.
It emerged that McIntyre and other talents in the men’s Royal Rumble match had issues with several timing problems from LA Knight.
McIntyre was said to be “screaming” and “angry” backstage afterwards, with WWE reportedly getting in contact with him after the fact.
McIntyre was asked by Adam Silverstein on the Getting Over Wrestling Podcast if there was any truth to these reports, or if they were exaggerated.
Confirming that he was fuming in the moment, McIntyre said:
“I mean, not all the details (in the reports) are accurate but yeah, I was fuming and I let everybody know what I thought and then I left. I’ve learned as an adult that nothing good happens when you’re highly emotional so just go calm down, get the facts then deal with it.
“I don’t want to punch somebody in the head and be unprofessional and then find out facts later I didn’t know about. (Leaving) was the grown up thing to do.”

When asked how he handles having frustrations if nobody is hurt, McIntyre responded:
“I mean, it depends on the situation. For me, if I ever feel somebody did something disrespectful, or (making air quotes) ‘went into business for themselves’ and the likes, that’s when I get frustrated.
“Sometimes it’s not what it appears on the surface and you have to get all of the facts together, and you have to just calm down.”
