Why Drew McIntyre Attacked Cody Rhodes At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event WWE

Drew McIntyre has revealed why he attacked Cody Rhodes during his match against Oba Femi at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The December 13 WWE special opened with Cody Rhodes taking on NXT’s Oba Femi, with the match ending in a no-contest thanks to interference from Drew McIntyre.

While McIntyre has addressed Femi knocking him down following the match, the reason for the attack on the WWE Champion has now also been revealed.

Speaking in a video on Twitter accompanied by the caption “2025 has been a disaster”, McIntyre revealed the reason for attacking Rhodes, saying:

“Are you pissed off? Good. I’ve been pissed off for a long time now. I just don’t care what anyone thinks anymore. I have to feel that way, otherwise I’d just go completely insane. Anyone else in my position would’ve lost their mind by now.

“I’ve left the arena, I’m at the airport. I don’t give a damn that it’s Cena’s last night, I don’t, I’m not even watching.

After sending a message to Oba Femi, McIntyre turned his attention to Cody Rhodes, continuing:

“Cody, you don’t get a redo. I know how much Cena meant to you, how much he means to you, and I know you’re still a scared little boy living in his shadow. I wanted to ruin your final chance to impress him. I did that for a simple reason: I felt like it.

“I call the shots, not you, champ. You’re begging for me, now you’ve got me. What were you saying last night? If you were in charge, you’d fire me, I’m only half-in? I’m sure you would fire me, you’d rip off your own nose to spite your face and mate, Drew McIntyre half in is still twice the man of you all the way in.”

On SmackDown, it was revealed that McIntyre, who is still suspended, had got his lawyer to send a letter claiming an “unsafe work environment.”

This would lead to Rhodes addressing the McIntyre situation in the ring before being cut off by Oba Femi ahead of their match last night.
