Dustin Rhodes On How Dusty Would’ve Reacted To Cody Rhodes WWE Return WWE

Dustin Rhodes has discussed Cody Rhodes WWE return, and how he thinks their late father, Dusty Rhodes, would’ve reacted to Cody’s Raw return promo.

Cody’s AEW departure was announced in February, ahead of his surprise appearance at WrestleMania 38.

The next night on WWE Raw, Rhodes vowed to win the WWE Championship in tribute to his father, for both of their legacies.

Speaking on The Sessions with Renée Paquette, Dustin Rhodes noted that he believes his father would’ve told Cody to take the money offer with WWE.

Picturing Dusty sitting in the rafters, Dustin said:

“I knew Dad always wanted us to be happy. He would have his suggestions and things like that and try to lead us in the right way. But ultimately, these are our decisions. Money is money, and Dad would always say, ‘Take the money.’”

“I know just me watching his (Cody’s) first promo and seeing Dad up there on the screen and talking about him, and Cody is very passionate about his promos, about every single word that he’s going to say which is very important, and especially for that first one, which was very important. You’re making a huge impact on a lot of people, the first time he’s been back in years, and he did. I know Dad would be happy.”

“He would be sitting in the rafters. That’s where I pictured him when me and Cody wrestled at Double or Nothing.”

On an episode of WWE The Bump last month, Cody noted that he believes that if he had one more conversation with his father, the first thing that Dusty would want to talk about would be his ‘American Nightmare’ neck tattoo.

At WrestleMania Backlash, Cody defeated Seth Rollins for the second time since returning to WWE. Rollins attacked the former AEW EVP on Monday Night Raw, during Cody’s US Championship match.
