Dwight Howard Has ‘No Doubt’ About Joining WWE WWE

NBA star Dwight Howard has addressed rumors that he is interested in joining WWE if he is not offered a basketball contract next season.

In July, Howard made an unexpected appearance at a WWE tryout in Nashville during SummerSlam weekend this past July, cutting a promo to show WWE that he has what it takes in the ring.

TMZ Sports caught up with Howard to ask him whether he was still interested in an in-ring appearance somewhere down the line.

The eight-time NBA All-Star said that if offered a contract by both the NBA and WWE, he would take “whatever opportunity is best.”

“Of course, no doubt,” Howard added. “I like wrestling.”

Howard also said that he would be equally comfortable playing a heel or a babyface role in the company.

“I’d be the good guy sometimes and the bad guy sometimes,” he said.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque (Triple H) has previously told Sporting News that when it comes to wrestling for WWE, the ball is in Dwight Howard’s court.

Levesque said:

“The ball’s in his court. He came by our tryouts in Nashville, was incredibly entertaining, jumping in promos by himself and then with others — incredibly entertaining.

“So, when he says, ‘Hey, I want to give this a shot,’ he’s got my phone number. All he’s got to do is call me, and we’ll see what can happen.”

WWE has had success in recent years with its celebrity crossovers, with stars like Bad Bunny and Logan Paul showing themselves to be unexpectedly proficient in the ring.

Logan Paul will face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WWE Crown Jewel on November 5 2022.
