Early Insight On AEW Revolution Streaming Numbers

Early details have emerged on viewership for the March 5 AEW Revolution 2023 pay-per-view.

Several big matches were advertised for the first AEW pay-per-view of 2023, including a 60-minute ironman match between Bryan Danielson and AEW World Champion MJF.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Revolution did better on streaming than the November 2022 Full Gear event.

Discussing the success of the recent pay-per-view, Meltzer noted:

“Pay-per-view, at least based on streaming numbers – I will have the television numbers later in the week – but based on streaming numbers, the streaming numbers were ahead of Full Gear.

“Everybody was thinking because these ratings are down and everything… WWE’s very hot.

“But if you look at AEW attendance since the start of the year, there have been some shows, including the Cow Palace shows, that did not draw great, but by and large, the attendance has been good. A lot of new markets and all that, that helps.

“Overall, all the California shows were good, Sacramento, which didn’t start off strong, is gonna do pretty well. They might be up to 5,500-6,000 people when all said and done, which is, for AEW, a good number. Compared to WWE? No. WWE’s on fire right now.

“But AEW is… in their business metrics, a lot of the stuff, their streaming numbers are down, their TV ratings are down, but when it comes to the big show – if this big number holds up, if they beat the last number, if they’re in the same realm as the last time Punk wrestled, which they think that they’ll be in that same realm, I think that’s a real positive as far as that aspect of the game goes.

“Especially coming after the day of the Jon Jones fight.”
