One of the only people who may be pleased to be released by WWE today is EC3. Since his callup from NXT, he has been perhaps the perfect example of wasted potential. Now, he is free to go elsewhere.
He seems to be willing to use this release to be creative. Not long after the announcement of his WWE release, EC3 posted a series of cryptic tweets, which can be found below.
ec3 character synopsis
Created by a perfect storm of frustration, angst, restraint, solitude and the sense of losing everything, the character of ec3 forced himself to consider the inconceivable.
That he was defeated. pic.twitter.com/63vA5avDgg— ecIII (@therealec3) April 15, 2020
ec3 embraces suppressed inhibitions.
Forgoing a persona that has a penchant for the finer things (attire, appearance, possessions) and a welcoming yet always professional personality is an evolution into an uber-mensch in a leather jacket.

With ec3’s evolution comes an all encompassing ideology.
ec3 becomes a walking, talking cultural commentator railing against the numbing confines of post-modern existence.— ecIII (@therealec3) April 15, 2020
In his inability to realize his own goals, aspirations, and what he deems his loss, ec3 seeks enlightenment through comeuppance.

Other’s in the WWE Universe (wrestling world) would find ec3’s behavior hypocritical. The negativity ec3 preaches becomes incessant lecturing, and the means of his behavior destructive, borderline obnoxious, and slightly insane
— ecIII (@therealec3) April 15, 2020
Regardless of perception, after a real and tangible story of loss, regret, and sacrifice ec3 embraces and important question
“Would you rather be the Universe’s enemy or nothing at all?”#FREEec3— ecIII (@therealec3) April 15, 2020
The series of tweets seem to tell the story of a hero’s journey for the downtrodden wrestler. Having left WWE in 2013, he made his home in TNA Wrestling where he became a top star. Then known as Ethan Carter III, he became World Champion on two occasions before departing the company in 2018.
He soon found himself in NXT where he maintained the rich EC3 character before jumping to the main roster in 2019. This is where these tweets seem to tell the story of his main roster run.
Now, he is free to go wherever he wants. Knowing his creative and verbal capabilities, he should be able to find a home quickly once this pandemic has calmed down.
We here at WrestleTalk would like to wish him the best going forward.
