Eddie Kingston will compete in a big tag-team match at the upcoming NJPW Rumble On 44th Street event.
At the October 28 special, Kingston will team with Kazuchika Okada to battle the team of Juice Robinson and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White.
It has now been confirmed that, after winning this year’s G1 Climax 32 tournament, Okada will challenge for White’s gold in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 17.
White notably called Kingston out on a recent edition of NJPW STRONG. Kingston last wrestled for NJPW during the July 24 STRONG tapings, against Jake Something.
The star hasn’t wrestled for AEW since facing Sammy Guevara at September’s Rampage: Grand Slam event.
NJPW shared the following preview for the upcoming tag bout:
“For the first time ever, Eddie Kingston will team with Kazuchika Okada to take on Jay White and Juice Robinson. When Kingston was unable to participate in a scheduled six man tag at Las Vegas’ Autumn Attack, White took exception and blasted the Mad King for ‘not having the balls’ to face the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
“Kingston would be raring to go one on one, but after retaining his title at Ryogoku Sumo Hall this past Monday, Kazuchika Okada stood in the Switchblade’s path. White vs Okada awaits in the Tokyo Dome on January 4 at Wrestle Kingdom 17, and out first official preview of that main event will see a unique team against Jay White and Juice Robinson.
“On a losing streak at current that includes dropping a decision to Kingston’s running buddy Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite, Robinson wants to get back on track before the end of the year, but can he?”
NJPW has also announced a King Of Pro Wrestling (KOPW) rematch, with Shingo Takagi set to go one-on-one with El Phantasmo. It is unclear what exactly the duo will be fighting over, after El Phantasmo smashed the provisional trophy at the recent Declaration of Power event.
