It was revealed in multiple reports yesterday that AEW Eddie Kingston had served a suspension following a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara.
According to Dave Meltzer, who was the first to report the suspension, Kingston took exception to something Sammy said during a promo, a promo that would ultimately not air on TV.
Fightful Select added a source had told them Kingston had gone as far as swinging at Guevara during the altercation, and now Kingston has issued a statement to PWInsider in regards to the incident.
He said:
“You know the truth. I wouldn’t lie. I was wrong for being unprofessional. That is the blind fact. He did what he did and the public can judge that but I know for a fact I was wrong.”
It isn’t clear whether Guevara was also suspended as a result of the confrontation, but he was not on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
The two men are still advertised as wrestling on the September 4 All Out show, but Guevara accepting Kingston’s challenge was edited out of a recent episode of AEW Rampage, so perhaps plans have changed.
Either way, we’ll let you know if we hear anything else as soon as possible.
