Eddie Kingston will face off against a popular NJPW star at the upcoming Capital Collision event.
At Windy City Riot, Kingston called out Tomohiro Ishii for a bout in Washington DC on May 14.
The match has since been confirmed on NJPW1972.com, with the following preview:
Capital Collision on May 14 in Washington D.C. has its first match officially signed, as AEW’s Eddie Kingston will be taking on the Stone Pitbull Tomohiro Ishii. After Ishii emerged victorious from a war with Minoru Suzuki in Chicago at Windy City Riot, he was confronted by Kingston.
“The US veteran praised Ishii for his fighting spirit and grounding in Strong Style, but the Mad King had reverence for the competing King’s Road philosophy of professional wrestling, one which he wanted to bring to the ring in this first time ever battle.
“It’ll be the heavy offence of Ishii facing the incredible ability of Kingston to fire back in the face of punishment, and deal ever bigger shots. Who will land the finishing blow in DC May 14? Get your tickets now and find out in person!
Kingston has wrestled at several NJPW STRONG tapings in the last few months, most recently teaming with Fred Rosser to defeat Daniel Garcia and Fred Yehi in March.
Ishii is currently in the midst of a successful US run that began during WrestleMania weekend, picking up victories at WrestleCon and IMPACT Multiverse of Matches, as well as NJPW’s Lonestar Shootout, Mutiny and Windy City Riot shows.
Ishii vs Adam Cole will air on Friday’s (April 22) edition of AEW Rampage.
AEW and NJPW have now announced a ‘Forbidden Door’ crossover show for June 26. An update has revealed whether all-women’s promotion STARDOM will be involved with this event, which you can read about right here.
