Edge Reveals Who Came Up With The ‘Glasgow Grin’

Edge won the 2021 Royal Rumble match, and was rewarded with a WrestleMania main event against both Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.

Although Roman was victorious in that match, one of the most memorable moments occured when Edge locked Reigns in a Crossface, using the metal bar from a steel chair to aid the move, in a move he would later begin calling the “Glasgow Grin”

This move has since become the crutch of Edge’s feud with Reigns, where he locked both Jimmy & Jey Uso, as well as Reigns again, in the hold.

According to the man himself, the idea for the “Glasgow Grin” did not come from Edge himself, but rather Jey Uso. Speaking with Sports Illustrated about the WrestleMania main event, Edge said:

“That match felt like it flew by, and it was so much fun to collaborate with Roman, Bryan, Paul Heyman, Jey Uso, and Michael Hayes. My favorite part of the match was that ‘Glasgow Grin’ I got on Roman. That whole sequence was actually Jey Uso’s idea. It was so cool to have such great minds collaborate about something we’re all so passionate about.”

Edge and Roman Reigns will do battle one on one at WWE Money In The Bank for the Universal Championship tonight (July 18), in a feud heavily focused around the “Glasgow Grin”.
