Edge Shares Emotional Message Ahead Of World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Match

The tournament to crown the new World Heavyweight Champion is officially underway, kicking off on this week’s WWE Raw show.

The tournament saw Seth Rollins and Finn Balor win their respective Triple Threat matches, with Seth beating Balor in the main event of the show to punch his ticket to Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.

The tournament will advance on tomorrow night’s (May 12) episode of SmackDown, with two Triple Threat matches set to take place, the first featuring Edge, AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio.

Ahead of the huge match, Edge took to Twitter to discuss the tournament, reflecting on giving up the World Heavyweight Championship 12 years ago, and how he ‘has to’ get it back.

Edge reiterated that this ride will end soon, he has to end it right by winning back the title he never lost.

The winner of the Edge, Styles and Mysterio Triple Threat will face the winner of the Sheamus, Bobby Lashley and Austin Theory Triple Threat in the show’s main event, with the winner facing Seth Rollins at Night of Champions to crown the inaugural champion.

The show will also feature Cameron Grimes’ SmackDown debut, when he takes on Baron Corbin, as well as a Women’s Tag Team Championship clash with Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defending against Bayley and Dakota Kai.

Becky Lynch returned and confronted Trish Stratus

Dominik Mysterio def. Xavier Woods
