It was announced a few weeks ago that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament would be returning in 2020.
The tournament often produces some truly fantastic matches, with the semi-final match last year between Aleister Black & Ricochet and DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano being a particular highlight.
On last night’s New Year’s Day episode of NXT, the black and gold brand has confirmed which eight-teams will be taking part in the signature tournament that is set to kick off in the coming weeks.
Following the departures of The Street Profits and The Viking Raiders from NXT to Raw, four teams from NXT UK have been called to make up half of the bracket. The following eight teams have been chosen for the tournament.
- Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne
- Undisputed Era
- The Forgotten Sons
- KUSHIDA & TBA
- Gallus
- Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews
- Imperium
- Grizzled Young Veterans

I am really excited for the tournament after seeing the teams that have been confirmed. The pairing of Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne should be fantastic, and could lead to a brilliant feud between the two following a loss in the tournament.
There is no word on who KUSHIDA will be teaming with for the tournament, but I’d like to see him chose Austin Theory. Theory had a great in-ring debut last week against Roderick Strong, and the tournament could be a good way to get him over.
There is no word on when the tournament is starting, so stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for the latest on that.
